A group from Centro Promocional Christiano

Centro Promocional Christiano

El Centro Promocional Cristiano por la Paz y la Vida (Christian Promotional Center for Peace and Life), is  a grassroots organization founded by a group of women in the 1980s. Their goal was to address the problem of malnutrition by growing soy gardens, weighing undernourished children, and providing parents with nutritional and social support. It is now a widely-recognized NGO that is a model  of community-based organizing in the country and has worked with CARE International, Swissaid, and the French organization Trocaire.

The Center seeks to help all people in the region of San Ramon and has three departments: health (preventative health and natural medicine through the doctor’s office, pharmacy, and community health workers), agriculture/credit (gives loans to farmers and entrepreneurs to achieve self-sufficiency), and culture (art, dance, music, and programming for the elderly). Our first loan to CPCPV was $630 divided among four entrepreneurs in the agricultural/credit program, and we have since loaned a total of $2,630 to the organization.
